Twitter for Real Estate Twits

200px twitter Twitter for Real Estate TwitsWhat in the world is Twitter?  Twitter is one of those things that once you try it and get the hang of it, suddenly a light goes off and you say, “ah-ha!”

To try and put it into a somewhat “normal” definition, Twitter is a free social networking and blogging platform where users post 140 characters or less in text posts.  Users can send and receive updates for themselves and those who they “follow”.  Twitter was founded in 2006 and while no one knows the exact figures, it is estimated that there are about 6 million members, making Twitter the 3rd largest social networking site behind Myspace and Facebook.

Twitter has become a sort of phenomenon with multiple Twitter-friendly applications being added regularly.  There’s Twitpic:  for uploading pictures to your Twitter profile, Twirl:  for managing multiple Twitter streams, TweetLater:  which allows you to “schedule” your Twitter updates, and many, many more.  There’s even a “Twealtors” group on LinkedIn.

How can Twitter work for real estate agents, you ask?  You are in luck!  Nicole Nicolay (@nik_nik on Twitter), of Effektive Solutions and MyTechOpinion.com, has written an ebook on how real estate agents can use Twitter to build relationships and their business.  It starts with the basics and teaches Twitter in an easy-to-understand format.  Click here for a link to the FREE ebook.

First time I have heard the term twealtors. I will keep that in mind. I realize the article is from last year and yes twitter is stronger than ever. I have had a personal acct for some time and just signed up recently with a twiiter acct with real estate related keywords in the url. We’ll have to wait and see if that helps.

It amazes me how many real estate pros are on twitter. I am just waiting to see a realestate.twitter.com
